According to where guests are staying, this private tour includes a tailored selection of village visits along the stunning Amalfi Coast. After being collected from their accommodation, guests will be taken to the resplendent Ravello. Free time will be provided to enjoy the breathtaking scenery, visit the historical sites such as the Duomo (Cathedral) or other quaint churches of the area or perhaps even stroll through one of the famous gardens of Villa Cimbrone or Villa Rufolo.
The driver will also be able to provide the guests with suggestions for the best places to try local delicacies, a delicious gelato or the best limoncello in each of the towns selected on this splendid day along the Amalfi Coast.The Costiera Amalfitana comprises 13 municipalities perched along the splendid coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula in the province of Salerno in the Campania region.
Stretching from Positano down to Vietri sul Mare, the middle Amalfi Coast villages are Praiano, Fuore, Conca dei Marini, Amalfi, Atrani, Scala, Ravello, Minori, Tramonti, Maiori and Cetara.
Guests will then be able to decide with the driver the best locations to visit from the selection of 12 other municipalities along the famous coastal stretch, such as Amalfi or Positano.
Getting there is certainly half the fun, traveling along the 25-mile Strada Statale 163 that hugs the stunning stretch of coastline and connects the 13 Amalfi Coast municipalities, with each turn presenting stunning vistas.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the history of the Amalfi Coast dates back to the Middle Ages, when the town of Amalfi was founded under the rule of the Dutchy of Amalfi.
Salerno and then Pisa briefly took over rule in relatively quick succession. Besides its stunning views, historic sites and beautiful beaches that have rendered the area a popular holiday destination, the Amalfi Coast is also famous for limoncello liqueur produced with the local variety of lemons.
It is home to much natural diversity that greatly beautifies the coastline, whilst the rich artistic and architectural elements offer historical significance. The area is famed for its production of hand-painted ceramics, quality linens, leather sandals, hand-made paper (“bambagina”) as well as a local anchovy recipe. Olive oil and wine is also produced from the groves and vines raking the slopes of the splendid coastline.
